Poll: TikTok Ban Bill Supported By Most U.S. Voters

Among the findings of a survey conducted earlier this month by Stagwell’s Harris Poll is that 65% of American voters support the bill that would ban TikTok in the U.S. if parent ByteDance does not sell it to a U.S. government-approved buyer.

However, a majority (57%) of younger voters (aged 18-24) are opposed to the bill.

The poll, commissioned by Harvard’s Center For American Political Studies, found that most voters believe that the risks to personal and national security outweigh the risks of using TikTok.

Separately, a majority of voters—nearly 75%--say they are worried that both Russia and China will try to interfere with the upcoming presidential election.

The poll also found that slightly more voters—34% versus 32% in a similar poll from last month—feel the country and the economy are on “the right track.”

That said, 47% indicated that their personal financial situation is “becoming worse,” slightly up from the 45% who said they felt way a month ago.

Immigration is seen as the most important issue facing the country by 36% of those polled, followed by inflation and price increases (33%).

This nationally representative survey was conducted online March 20-21 among 2,111 registered U.S. voters.
