Promoting Ice Cream Brand, Snoop Dogg Hypes Different Mid-April Holiday

Snoop Dogg may already be closely associated with a certain April holiday, but he’d like to add another one to the calendar, taking the opportunity to hype his ice cream brand ahead of the weekend.

“I love my munchies, especially my Dr. Bombay Ice Cream. I am declaring 4/19 Dr. Bombay Day -- be sure to hit the store and tell them Dogg sent you,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement.

Dr. Bombay Ice Cream launched last July as the first brand under Bosslady Foods, a parent company offering “snacks that promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and exploration” created as a collaboration between Snoop Dogg and CPG company Happi Co. The brand launched with a roster of flavors combining ice cream, sherbet, and novel additions: Tropical Sherbet Swizzle, Iced Out Orange Cream, Syrupy Waffle Sundaze, and S'more Vibes.

Dr. Bombay is launching a new flavor as it celebrates the 4/19 holiday: Strawberry Cream Dream, a combination of strawberry sherbet, vanilla ice cream, and swirls of strawberry jam blended with golden sandwich cookies. The flavor is presented by Death Row Records and sports the record label’s logo on its packaging. Strawberry Cream Dream is one of three new flavors that  will debut this year, according to the brand.

In anticipation  of the holiday, Snoop Dogg threw a celebratory party at his LA compound, which included boozy ice cream cocktails, “munchie filled” sundaes, new flavors, and other festivities. The brand promoted the new flavor launch, as well as Dr. Bombay Day, on its social channels, as well as sharing highlight from the LA event.

Dr. Bombay Day arrives on the heels of significant retail expansion for the brand, which entered  Kroger and Publix stores, and affiliates including City Market, Dillons, and Ralphs Market. The brand was already available at retail partners including Albertsons, Gopuff, Safeway, ShopRite and Walmart.

To bring the celebration to fans, Dr. Bombay is partnering with key retailers on promotional deals including a 4 for $20 deal at Kroger and affiliates, Albertsons, Safeway, Shoprite, and Jewel Osco in participating cities; as well as a 2 for $10 deal at Publix.
