Fox and Marvel Join Forces with Future for X-Men Promo

Fox and Marvel are partnering with Future publishers to produce X-Men "posterzines" to promote the upcoming X-Men movie. The "posterzines" consist of nine glossy poster-sized photos of the X-Men characters folded to magazine size, as well as actor bios and an interview with the director. Selling for $5.99, 200,000 copies are due at newsstands on May 25th--the day before the movie is slated to open.

ASME Gets Glamour's Leive

The American Society of Magazine Editors announced a number of new appointments on Monday: Cynthia Leive, editor in chief of Glamour magazine, was appointed president, and Evan Smith, editor of Texas Monthly, was elected vice president. Robert Myers, editor in chief of Elle, will become secretary, and Adam Moss, editor in chief of New York magazine, has been named treasurer.

Kiplinger Organization Taps Harbrecht for New Media

The Washington editors of the Kipling Organization announced Monday that Douglas Harbrecht has been named New Media editorial director. Harbrecht moves to this position from his previous role as executive editor of BusinessWeek Online, which experienced substantial growth in online readership during his tenure.

Branded Sony Mag Gets New Look

PSM: Independent PlayStation Magazine, a Future US publication devoted entirely to all matters relating to Sony PlayStation, displayed a new look at the E3 gaming expo, which ran from May 10th-12th this week. The new format is intended to replicate the actual "broadscreen" look of Sony's new high-definition games.
