CBS, TiVo Team Up For TiVocast, Bring Web Content To TV

CBS has signed up with TiVo's new service which takes Web content to the TV screen--it's the first broadcast network to do so.

Called TiVocast, the deal will allow TiVo to grab content from CBS.com, CBS's broadband channel Innertube, CBSNews.com and CBS SportsLine, among any future digital announcements. TiVo has already made similar deals with The New York Times, Heavy.com, iVillage, CNET, Reuters, Forbes, dLife and PlumTV.

TiVoCast is available to their customers who have hooked their DVRs to a broadband connection. In early 2007, TiVo subscribers will also have access to Home Movies Service, which will allow them to share home videos with other TiVo subscribers through their TV sets.

The news sent shares up 33 cents to $6.25, up 5.6%.
