Cheesy, crunchy and not-so-live at the Super Bowl

Hollywood, Calif. – New TV commercial producers need distance and safety -- watching TV from the comfort of a couch than in a dangerous stadium seat at a live big time sports event. Finalists for the Doritos’ “Crash the Super Bowl” sweepstakes -- where Doritos asked Internet users to produce their own Doritors TV commercials to be aired live during the Super Bowl – had just this penchant. Part of the sweepstakes was in giving trips to finalists to the Super Bowl this past February in Miami, Fla. In addition to all the cash prizes that were thrown their way, Doritos, naturally, offered those finalists tickets to the actual game. But all those wannabe-commercial producers turned Doritos down. Those user-generated producers weren’t interested in the game. They wanted to see their commercials run live on TV on CBS. So, instead, Doritos taped their reactions watching the game on TV as the winning commercial was revealed when it ran live for the first time during the Super Bowl. People cried, cheered, and acted a little cheesy -- but not so crunchy. xxx
