Another CBS Pilot For Bruckheimer

  • Variety, Thursday, August 16, 2007 10:30 AM
CBS has given Jerry Bruckheimer a pilot commitment that will have him joining "Sleeper Cell" creators Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff on a new one-hour adventure drama built around a team of treasure hunters, led by a former Navy SEAL turned archaeologist.

Warner Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer Television will produce the pilot while Voris and Reiff will write it. The idea is to create a show that is grounded in real-world politics and features the drama of reality shows, while avoiding cliches and cheesiness.

Voris says he and his partner were struck by the idea of "taking that Indiana Jones paradigm and making it feel cool and real. We want to make use of the current international situation as a backdrop." CBS developed another adventurish show with Warner last year, but both Voris and Reiff say this project is very different and came from talks they had with Bruckheimer.

If the show makes it, it will join Bruckheimer's other successes on CBS: "Without a Trace," "Cold Case," "The Amazing Race" and all three versions of "CSI."
