CBSNews.com, 'Washington Post' Unite For 2008 Campaign News
Now, CBSNews.com and WashingtonPost.com plan to leverage the best of their campaign coverage to compete for a larger share of readers. Under the terms of the agreement, both outlets will share political content throughout the duration of the 2008 campaign.
The Post's site will feature video coverage from CBS News correspondents, producers and off-air reporters--while news, analysis and commentary from the newspaper's political reporters and columnists will appear on CBSNews.com. Each site will promote the partnership by linking to the other's political coverage.
"Our goal is to be the premiere political information destination and to bring the best of the Web to our readers," said Michael Sims, vice president, editorial, CBSNews.com.
WashingtonPost.com's coverage will be showcased in CBSNews.com's new campaign site, to be launched soon, in addition to original reporting by CBSNews.com Senior Political Editor Vaughn Ververs and WashingtonPost.com's Chris Cillizza.
Collaborations have already been announced between The New York Times and NBC/MSNBC.com, and USA Today and ABC News.
