Hola! XM Radio Adds New Spanish Music Channel

Lovers of Spanish-language hits from the '60s, '70s and '80s just got a new reason to listen to XM Radio.

The satellite radio network kicked off Caricia, XM channel 93, which showcases music hits from popular Spanish artists, such as Julio Iglesias, Jose Feliciano, Roberto Carlos and Camilo Sesto.

Says Jesus Salas, senior programming director, XM Satellite Radio: "The Caricia channel will deliver "musica del recuerdo," or timeless music that is certain to bring listeners back" to the hits of the past 30 years.

XM, which has more than 8.5 million subscribers, has put a big push behind Spanish-language programming. The network also offers three other commercial-free Latin music channels, including Latin pop hits channel Viva (XM 91); regional Mexican music channel Aguila (XM 92); and tropical dance music and reggaeton hits channel Caliente (XM 94).

Aside from its music lineup, the radio net airs XM Deportivo (XM 147), which features Spanish soccer coverage and sports information from around the world, and CNN En Espanol (XM 126), the 24-hour Spanish-language news network.

XM is available in 140 different car models for 2008, including ones from General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Porsche, Ferrari, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota.
