RealNetworks announced that it has acquired Trymedia, a casual games syndication technology firm.

Trymedia, formerly a division of Santa Clara, Calif.-based Macrovision, provides casual game syndication and monetization platforms for online publishers, retailers and game developers including AOL, Yahoo and IGN.

While financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, the deal doubles the scale of RealNetworks' RealGames syndication business, according to Harold Zeitz, senior vice president of RealGames.
