CNET Partners With Univision For Tech-Focused Site

Seeking new and untapped markets, CNET has partnered with Univision Online to launch a Spanish-language technology-focused Web site at Univision.com.

The site is furnished with product reviews, breaking technology news about, and original videos for Spanish-speaking consumers to navigate today's digital world.

CNET and Univision.com together will offer product reviews in five key categories including cell phones, MP3 players, televisions, computers, and digital cameras.

Exclusive Spanish-language videos include "First Look," new gadget reviews, and "Product Spotlight," which looks closely at popular products. In addition, two of CNET's help and how-to shows, "Insider Secrets" and "Quick Tips," will give viewers advice on how to get the most out of technology products.

"We continue to expand our footprint and U.S. Hispanics now have access to even more vital information for the digital world," said Joe Gillespie, executive vice president at CNET.

The growing influence of this demographic is clear. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, U.S.-born Hispanics will comprise about 70% of the total U.S. Hispanic population by 2020, by which time Hispanics will make up over 35% of the total U.S. population.

CNET has sought to expand viewership in a number of areas over the past year. Just last month, the company relaunched its video-on-demand network, CNET TV, which has existed as a stand-alone site since 2006.

CNET remains by far the most-trafficked tech news property on the Web. The site was drawing roughly 61.5 million unique monthly visitors as of December, according to comScore, while its closest rival, NetShelter, was recording about 26 million.
