Whole Foods To Crack Cheese For Record Book

  • April 8, 2008
In an attempt to make it into the Guinness Book of World Records, Whole Foods Market is planning on a chain-wide cheese-cutting.

On April 12, the Austin, Tex.-based retailer says it plans to simultaneously crack open hundreds of wheels of aged Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. "It will be the 'crack heard around the world' as we 'break open happiness' simultaneously at our 270 stores to try a feat worthy of the Guinness World Records Book," the company says.

Carving into and portioning each of the 85-pound wheels will take approximately half an hour, and is just part of the company's month-long promotion of wines and cheese from Italy.
