Google Integrates Street View Into Driving Directions

  • April 30, 2008
Google Maps has integrated Street View's street-level images into its driving directions feature. Searchers who generate routes to, from or through any of the 40 or so cities currently covered by Street View can click on camera icons that appear in their turning directions.

The Street View image of that intersection (complete with 360-degree rotation and zooming) then pops up, complete with an arrow showing which way to turn. The user can then follow the arrow to explore along the actual look of their route. Google on Tuesday also posted a YouTube video showing the new feature in action.
