Consumers Act as Media Planners for P&G

Talk about turning controversy into brand awareness. This week, Procter & Gamble set up a poll on its consumer toll-free phone line asking callers if they would support or decry the gay kissing on the P&G produced and sponsored soap "As the World Turns."

The poll is a response to the American Family Association, which asked people to call P&G to protest the homosexual content. High-profile bloggers such as Perez Hilton took sides on the issue Wednesday, (April 30) fueling the buzz and countering some of the criticism.
