In yesterday's conference call to investors Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes told investors that Warner Bros. would be the first studio to offer its DVD film titles to home viewers as video on demand as
soon as the DVDs are released. VOD happens to be more profitable than peddling DVDs.
Wal-Mart, which had opposed the move to protect its in-store sales, was surprised by tests that
showed the VOD option actually helped DVD sales.
