"Bush" Premiere Sets Ratings Record

  • April 12, 2001
(Variety) - Comedy Central's new political sitcom satire "That's My Bush!" debuted Wednesday to a 3.0 cable household rating, the highest ratings performance for a series premiere on the network.

The live-action comedy series from Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of the subversive animated hit "South Park," was highly promoted, and it debuted immediately following "South Park."

Comedy Central has used the post-"South Park" timeslot many times to incubate new series.

"Bush!", which stars Timothy Bottoms as President George W. Bush in a White House-based sendup to TV's sitcom genre, is the only show on Comedy Central to ever build on the "South Park" lead-in. "Park" earned a 2.7 cable rating Wednesday night.
