New Web Site Schools Kids On Nutrition

  • August 14, 2008
WiseHealth has launched Wisenhimer.com, an online playground aimed at teaching kids ages 5-12 how to eat right and exercise.

The site was developed by Annapolis, M.D.-based WiseHealth, a healthy-living consultancy backed by a team of dieticians, doctors, exercise physiologists, and other health professionals. WiseHealth has packed Wisenhimer.com with graphics, casual games, music, and interactive features, as well as a link to the WiseWorld virtual world.

Like other virtual worlds, members can create an avatar and chat with others, as well as purchase items with "WisePoints," the world's currency. Children can earn WisePoints through various activities, including scoring well on nutrition and health-based quizzes. While there is an iPod-based promotion running that rewards kids who get five friends to join with an iPod shuffle, there are no plans for "traditional" interactive advertising such as banners or pre-roll video.

But according to Tom McCollum, senior vice president of WiseHealth, there will be sponsorship opportunities for marketers whose messages gel with the site's overarching theme of healthy, activity-based lifestyles for kids. --Tameka Kee
