About.com, MGM Mirage Launch Vegas Promo

About.com - VegasAbout.com and MGM Mirage have teamed up for another round of "48 Hours in Vegas," a promo aimed at generating buzz about Las Vegas and the hotelier's properties there.

The sweepstakes invites travelers to share their Vegas confessions via online video for a chance to win prizes like hotel accommodations, show tickets and VIP access to various nightclubs. The contest runs through May 2009.

Entrants can upload their own Vegas confessional clips at www.48hoursinvegas.about.com or through interactive kiosks located on MGM Mirage Las Vegas properties like Circus Circus, Luxor, Mandalay Bay and Treasure Island. The kiosks, which were developed by Thinking Pictures, a New York-based digital out-of-home production company, are a new addition to the contest, aimed at encouraging more spontaneous participation.

"Last year, MGM Mirage teamed with About.com to launch the first '48 Hours in Vegas' Confessional Sweepstakes," said Paul Peterman, senior account director, About.com. "We are pleased to team up with MGM Mirage once again and anticipate the implementation of the confessional kiosks in this year's sweepstakes will be well-received by both our users and MGM Mirage visitors alike."

People who have never been to Vegas can also enter by submitting clips of themselves describing what they would do on their dream trip. Vegas fans can rank their favorite confessions on the about.com microsite, which also features info on various hotels, restaurants and other city attractions. The advertorial content is segmented for budget travelers and visitors on the hunt for the ultimate nightlife, as well as high rollers, alongside rich media and banner ads. Winners will be chosen by an independent judging authority at various intervals through the duration of the contest.
