DDB'S "Whassup?" Campaign Wins the GRANDY

  • April 25, 2001
The highly praised Anheuser Busch television campaign for Budweiser won another great honor last night as it copped the prestigious 2001 GRANDY Award and its $50,000 prize.

Sponsored by the Advertising Club of New York, the 2001 International ANDY Awards, were celebrated at a gala held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.

Created by DDB Chicago, the "Whassup?" campaign teases American men by imitating their (all too) realistic greetings to each other. As everyone in America knows by now, it's the pure and simple joys of life that give men the greatest pleasures -- friends, laughter and a very cold Bud.

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, won a total of 12 awards, seven ANDYs and five Distinctions, the majority for Hewlett-Packard and Nike. Arnold Worldwide, Boston, was honored with eight awards, five for Volkswagen of America.
