Colorado Residents Most Politically Plugged-In

Colorado residents rank as the most politically active online, with 12.4% visiting a presidential candidate's Web site or a top political blog in September. Following closely behind were Connecticut and New Jersey, at 11% each, according to a new study by Web measurement firm Compete.
Among states that gave the least attention to the presidential race online were Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.
"The bottom 10 states, in terms of online interest, all hail from traditionally Republican states across the Deep South," wrote Compete analyst Matt Pace in a blog post. "The general ambivalence towards this race suggests...McCain has failed to connect with social conservatives in the Republican Party."
Eastern states were generally following the election most closely online. As a battleground state, Colorado's interest in the race may be heightened by the key role it could play on Nov. 4. As of Wednesday, a RealClearPolitics aggregate poll had Obama ahead of McCain, 50% to 45%.--Mark Walsh
