Mobile video company Transpera has closed a second-round funding of $8.25 million led by Flybridge Capital and including new investor Labrador Ventures. Previous investors including Intel Capital and First Round Capital also participated.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Transpera runs an ad-supported mobile video platform used by media properties including CBS News, Discovery Communications, MTV Networks and Break.com.

Earlier this year, Alltel Wireless partnered with Transpera to launch Alltel Social Video, a new monthly service allowing subscribers to share and rate videos from various online sources.

Transpera said the new capital infusion, which includes debt financing from Silicon Valley Bank, would be used to expand product development and customer service.

About 4% of U.S. mobile subscribers watched mobile video or TV in the second quarter, according to Nielsen Mobile.--Mark Walsh
