Thursday's 'Grey's,' 'CSI' Hold Sweeps Supremacy
The second Thursday of the November sweeps looked much the same as the first: CBS was the top-rated network; ABC had the best-rated show.
ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" took the night--leading at 5.9/14 with its usual competitor, CBS' "CSI," with a 5.1/12, the network's best-rated show of the night.
CBS pulled in a Nielsen preliminary 4.1/10 among 18-49 viewers. ABC was right behind with a 3.9/10. NBC was next with a 3.3/8, and Fox earned a 2.2/6. Univision tied Fox with a strong 2.2/6, although it was behind Fox with overall viewers and young 18-34 viewers. CW was next, with a 1.6/4 among 18-49 viewers.
Those were virtually the same numbers--and in the same order--that those networks had the week before. Not surprisingly, many of those Thursday shows also elicited similar week-to-week numbers. While much was the same, some shows moved to the beat of their own drummer. Some of the gainers: CBS' "Survivor: Gabon" rose to a 4.1/11 from a 3.8/10 the week before; NBC's "ER" grew to a 3.7/10 (perhaps thanks to a special return visit of ER alumni Anthony Edwards), against its 3.2/9 the previous week.
Three NBC shows drifted a bit lower: "The Office" dropped to a 4.0/9 from a 4.3/10, "30 Rock" was lower at a 3.6/8 from a 3.9/9; and "Kath & Kim" sank to a 2.1/5 from a 2.4/6.
When it came to younger viewers, ABC was again tops this Thursday, at a 3.4/9. NBC had a silver-lining second-place spot at a 3.1/9; CBS earned a 2.6/7; Fox took a 2.4/7; Univision had a strong 2.2/6 and CW finished at 1.4/4.
