Eddie Dalva has been named senior vice president of content, MTV Networks Entertainment Group. In his new post, he will pursue global content opportunities, as well as strategic co-ventures and digital content partnerships. Dalva's primary focus will be Spike TV, but he may represent TV Land and Comedy Central in select instances.

Dalva reports to Kevin Kay, president, Spike TV.

Commenting on the appointment, John Cucci, executive vice president and COO, MTVN's Entertainment Group, said: "There isn't anyone more capable of enhancing the value of our content and brands globally."

Dalva is no stranger to Spike TV. Prior to his hire, he served as a network consultant to Spike and TV Land, helping to launch original programs like "DEA," "Murder" and "Bullrun" internationally. Dalva also brought in two of Spike TV's most successful acquisitions: "Spike's Wildest Videos" and "Disorderly Conduct."

Most recently, he coordinated a deal with MGM TV for an original Spike TV movie next year about Irish gangsters in Boston, directed by Walter Hill.

Previously, Dalva served as senior vice president of programming, co-productions and creative affairs for VH1. He was part of the team that launched VH1 UK and HA!, which eventually became Comedy Central.

The MTV Networks Entertainment Group is part of Viacom.
