RJ PalmerRobert Palmer, who founded independent media services agency R.J. Palmer Inc. in 1979, died Jan. 16th. He was 74. Known as one of the early pioneers of opportunistic buying, Palmer was a master of the so-called Friday "fire sale," in which astute, last minute buyers would gobble up prized network inventory at bargain basement prices.

In 1983, Palmer launched Palmer Vineyards in Aquebogue Long Island where, through his work at the Long Island Wine Council, he again served as a pioneer in the marketing and success of his and other Long Island vineyards.

RJ Palmer is a full service advertising agency headquartered in New York. It is privately held with billings in excess of $645 million. Palmer provides strategic insights, TV, Print, OOH, Radio and Online media planning and buying as well as branded entertainment.
