Pantheon's study reveals almost three-quarters (73%) of consumers are willing to share personal data with brands they trust, making it a fundamental part of forming a long-term relationship with customers.

According the surcey, there are several ways that marketers can lose the trust of existing and potential customers, with 51% of people saying that a bad brand interaction led them to quit engaging with a brand. Also, consumers are wary of being followed around the internet, with 48% saying they avoid ad personalization because they don’t want to be tracked. About two-thirds (64%) of consumers prefer generic communication or are indifferent to personalized communication.
