For 1st Time, Linear TV Makes Up Less Than Half Of Viewing Time

U.S. consumers spent less time watching linear television last month than watching streaming services and other platforms, according to Nielsen data, marking the first time that traditional TV made up less than half of total U.S. viewing.

Cable television captured 29.6% of total U.S. viewing time, while broadcast drew 20%, according to Nielsen.

Streaming services in July were responsible for 38.7% of viewing time, while the “other” category that includes DVD players and gaming made up the remaining 11.6%.
