Generative artificial intelligence, the technology that powers the ChatGPT chatbot, is starting to show its most popular uses in the behaviors of early adopters, according to a survey by research firm Ipsos.

About half (49%) of respondents said they used the technology to search for information, making it the most popular application among people who are testing out the technology. Learning new things also is popular, as cited by 44% of respondents, Ipsos data show.
