Dockers Creates Unique Mobile Ad

  • March 11, 2009
Dockers San Francisco, a division of Levi's, has created a mobile advertisement for use with iPhone applications that takes advantage of the device's unique "shaking" capabilities. The ad, which will be available via some free games offered through the company's App Store, features a freestyle dancer wearing Docker's Vintage Workwear Khaki's.

In between levels of gameplay on the free apps, users are encouraged to shake their phones to start the dancer moving. "Dockers San Francisco is the first brand to fully utilize the iPhone's technology to deliver an interactive message within applications, which is still a relatively new channel for advertising," said Sherri Phillips, vice president of marketing, Dockers San Francisco, in a statement.--Aaron Baar

Thanks, Aaron. We (Medialets) provided all the technology behind this. OMD's Ignition Factory brought the idea to us and we worked together with them, Dockers and Razorfish to bring this to market.

These ads are built using Web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) with some special hooks back to the native capabilities of the device. There's almost no learning curve for brands and agencies to build this type of ad for themselves.

We can also combine multiple actions/clickthroughs in a single ad so that an ad can combine branding, customer acquisition, permission-based data capture, etc. all for the price of a single buy.

And as an analytics-driven company, we have great metrics and reporting behind all of this.

Always happy to chat about this with anyone interested.
