Tom Koletas Gets Large at Giant Realm

Tom KoletasOnline media company Giant Realm has appointed Tom Koletas as vice president of sales, where he will be responsible for overseeing all sales and marketing initiatives.

Koletas most recently served as vice president and managing director of advertising sales at Imaginova, where he was responsible for shaping and implementing the advertising sales strategy, as well as managing the national online ad sales and account management teams.

Targeting men ages 18-34, the New York-based entertainment portal/ad network was founded by the William Morris Agency in mid-2007, and has since grown to encompass dozens of sites geared toward video games, sci-fi and independent movies and music.

"Today's marketers are faced with a tremendous challenge, as young male audiences have become increasingly fragmented and unfocused," said Koletas. "By delivering both engagement and scale, Giant Realm stands apart from other media companies."

Giant Realm recently announced a new ad-serving service for advertisers on any budget to run targeted campaigns.

Dubbed Giant Realm Direct, the service is designed for companies with conservative budgets and niche products, allowing them to specify a certain type of entertainment or gaming enthusiast from Giant Realm's network of 35 million monthly visitors.

For example, clients can run an ad buy targeting only "Guitar Hero" players, sci-fi film buffs, or anime/manga devotees.

Prior to Imaginova, Koletas was vice president of advertising for Industry Brains, where he helped grow the company from start-up mode to its acquisition by Marchex.

Along with the William Morris Agency, Giant Realm's shareholders include SoftBank Capital, Comcast Interactive Capital, and the Edison Venture Fund.
