Take Two: Digitas Appoints Tribal's Beringer To Prexy Role

Stephan Beringer Publicis' Digitas on Thursday named Stephan Beringer as president of its international division.

Reporting directly to Laura Lang, CEO of the digital marketing agency, Beringer will oversee all non-U.S. markets -- EMEA, LatAm, and Asia-Pac -- endeavoring to drive organic growth and new business in those regions.

"My international experience and understanding of business creativity ... is meant to add to the further development of Digitas' key position in the market," said Stephan Beringer.

Existing offices under Beringer's watch include the United Kingdom, China, Singapore, India, France, Sweden and Brazil.

A founding member of Omnicom's TribalDDB Worldwide, Beringer served as global chief strategic officer and president of TribalDDB EMEA.

A part of a broader "team structure" initiative, the appointment comes just a day after Digitas raided Liz Ross, another top exec at Tribal DDB, to serve as chief growth officer.

As part of the reorganization, Lang said Seth Solomons -- who has retained the role of Digitas' chief marketing officer -- will assume oversight of new business, strategy and analytics, media, technology, and corporate communications.

Meanwhile, Global Chief Creative Mark Beeching -- who already oversees creative, planning, as well as Digitas' "The Third Act" operations -- will effectively oversee the balance of Digitas' global operations.

Without providing specific examples, the agency said the new structure was designed to provide better client service and "value."

At Digitas, Beringer also will sit on Lang's Global Executive Board.

At TribalDDB Worldwide, Beringer was responsible for launching the German operation in 1995 and the Austrian office in 1999. Through his role as CEO of Tribal Germany and Tribal Austria, he became a member of TribalDDB's European Board in 2001, and took over as regional lead in 2005.

Ultimately, Beringer had been responsible for Tribal DDB in the EMEA region with its 22 offices and clients, including Air France, KLM, McDonald's, Philips, Unilever and Volkswagen.
