Pizza Hut is reporting that more than 100,000 consumers have downloaded its new iPhone/iPod Touch ordering application since they officially launched in mid-July.

The chain declined to provide sales numbers. "Clearly, our new app isn't just a novelty -- it's a new way to order pizza, pasta and wings from Pizza Hut that provides customers real value, convenience and unparalleled functionality," CMO Brian Niccol commented to Marketing Daily. As reported here at the launch, the QSR invested heavily to ensure leading-edge interactivity capabilities for the app. Other fast food chains, including Burger King, have launched iPhone ordering applications, but Pizza Hut was the first national chain to do so.--Karlene Lukovitz
