Cory's Recap Of OMMA Global Day 1

OMMA Global host Cory Treffiletti kicked things off this morning by recapping some of the highlights of day one. Here's what struck him most. Disruption:

"Disruption turns into chaos and learning."

Who Owns Social Media Strategy for a Brand?

"Personally, I think the brands are the ones that should own the social media strategy for themselves."

"It's very possible that we don't need standalone agencies representing social, or representing mobile."

Online Display

"The DSPs are only as successful as the publishers allow them to be. What if a year or two years down the line, if the publishers don't think the DSPs are the right place for them? That changes our whole business."

VivaKi's Jack Klues Keynote Call For Better Metrics

"I really think we're starting to get to a point where we understand what those metrics mean. There's always been a gap between what these metrics mean, and the real world metrics like sales."

Attribution

"Our business is still trying to figure out attribution models. We haven't standardized it yet, but going forward we need to understand that."

Mobile

"I had not realized that we are at a point now where smart phone sales are outselling PCs."

Strategic Planning

"When we talked about mobile yesterday, or social media yesterday, about them being freestanding media, I think we realize that they are extensions of other things."

"We have to evaluate how they work into the media mix."

"It's very possible that the way in which we integrate this, is to have the majority of the planning done on an integrated basis."
