NBCU Names Lehman Digital Chief

Nicholas-Lehman

Continuing to find its footing post-Comcast acquisition, NBC Universal on Thursday named Nicholas Lehman as its new president of digital for Entertainment & Digital Networks & Integrated Media.

Reporting directly to Lauren Zalaznick, Chairman of NBC Universal Entertainment & Digital Networks & Integrated Media, Lehman will oversee the pure-play digital businesses within the division's portfolio, including iVillage, DailyCandy, Swirl and Fandango.

In his newly created post, Lehman will be expected to develop an overarching growth strategy across Web, mobile and new digital platforms for each property -- a job Lehman insists will only be made easier with Comcast steering the ship.

"The new combination of NBC Universal and Comcast digital properties creates a strong foundation," Lehman said Thursday.

Most recently, Lehman served as CEO of posh lifestyle publisher Plum TV. There, Lehman is credited with revamping Plum's programming slate while developing a new multiplatform strategy, including mobile applications and digital distribution partnerships.

At NBC Universal, Lehman will also work closely with the leaders of each of the TV network's online platforms, including the sites for Telemundo, Bravo Media, Oxygen Media, Style and mun2.

NBC Universal's various online properties continue to explore new ways to connect with audiences. For instance, just hours before the announcement of Lehman's appointment, iVillage unveiled a series of mobile applications aimed squarely at its adult female audience.

Prior to Plum, Lehman served as COO of IAC Programming, where he managed the day-to-day operations of IAC's entertainment and media businesses, such as CollegeHumor and Very Short List.

Following its successful bid to buy NBC Universal, Comcast was not required to sell any assets, although it did agree to give up NBC's management role in streaming media hub Hulu.
