Synergy: NBCU Reps Ad Sales For Comcast's NECN

NECN-

In an example of synergies emerging between legacy Comcast properties and those from NBCUniversal, the NBC-owned station group will sell national advertising for a cable news network in New England.

The newly named NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations, with 10 outlets, will serve as a partial rep firm for Comcast's NECN (New England Cable News), which delivers news 24/7 into 3 million New England homes.

Comcast provides cable service to homes in the Boston region, and also operates a cable sports network there. Along with NECN, it is a legacy Comcast business.

For the NBC-owned group, the deal gives it an ad sales entrée into the large Boston market, bolstering its Northeast corridor footprint with outlets in Hartford, New York, Philadelphia and Washington.

"Having NECN more closely associated with NBC's local stations and other media assets presents new opportunities for advertisers and the network alike," stated Ray Warren, chief revenue officer for Comcast Sports Group, which includes NECN and 13 other local cable networks, mostly in sports.
