Smartphones Continue Growth

As if we needed more evidence that smartphones are taking over. A new survey from Nielsen found that more consumers bought smartphones than traditional cellphones between March and May 2011.

According to the survey, 55% of phone buyers bought a smartphone, up from 34% for the same period in 2010. Overall, nearly two in five consumers (38%) own a smartphone. Android is the top operating system, running on 38% of smartphones, while 27% of smartphones run Apple's iOS, and 21% run RIM's BlackBerry system.
