Tablets And E-Readers Will Be Top Toys

Yankee Group, the Boston research and advisory firm that put together a list of what it expects to be the most popular consumer-electronics products this holiday season reports e-readers and tablets will be favorite gifts. A year ago, tablets and e-readers were near the bottom of Yankee Group’s top 10 list of most-wanted consumer-electronics products. This year, in spite of the lousy economy, they are near the top.
The popularity of e-readers and tablets could result in a bonus for retailers and extend the holiday shopping season, Yankee Group’s report suggests.
People who get an e-reader for Christmas, for example, are highly likely to splurge on content for their device in late December and early January.
