Michael Bayle, senior vice president and general manager of ESPN Mobile is explaining the whole “surround” concept behind ESPN’s mobile strategy, and it’s basically to follow the sports fan to places where they otherwise could “not be able to watch television at that time.”

“It’s about wherever you are as a fan,” he said, citing, “bars” and “your home,” then citing “also the bars” (again), and finally, “the stadium.”

Why you’d actually want to watch a game virtually on a mobile screen while you’re sitting there watching it in reality, I’m not sure, but I’m not what you would call a “sports fan.” On the other hand, I have been known to frequent a bar from time to time, as apparently has Bayle.
