Horizon Cleans Up With Steemer Account

Stanley-Steemer-A

Independent shop Horizon Media has landed the Stanley Steemer media planning and buying assignment after a review, the agency and client confirmed Thursday.

Stanley Steemer spent about $40 million a year on ads in 2011 according to Kantar Media.

There was more than one incumbent on the business, including Publicis Groupe’s Spark, which had handled national cable since March. The account was one of several that shifted to Spark from sister agency Starcom, when the latter agency’s COO, Chris Boothe, was named CEO of Spark. The company declined to comment on the shift.

The client reportedly handled local media duties in-house.

“The team at Horizon media stresses that business is personal,” stated Brian King, who joined the client as vice president marketing, a year ago. “Stanley Steemer’s business is also a very personal business...It is important that our business partners provide us with these same levels of personalized service. Horizon Media shares our commitment to excellence and this commitment will allow us to exceed our customers’ needs and strengthen our leadership position.”

Added Bill Koenigsberg, founder and CEO at Horizon: “Both Stanley Steemer and Horizon Media are entrepreneurs at heart and share many of the same values.”

Dublin, Ohio-based Stanley Steemer is known for its residential and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning services. The 60-plus-year-old company also cleans grout and tile, air ducts and provides water damage restoration services, in addition to carpet sales and installation.  The company has more than 300 locations throughout the U.S.

The client’s creative duties are handled by Young & Laramore, an independent agency based in Indianapolis.
