Verve Mobile Hires CRO, Sales Staff

Verve Mobile has named James Smith as chief revenue officer, overseeing all sales and marketing functions for the location-focused mobile ad network. Prior to joining Verve, Smith was CRO for Warner Bros. Entertainment digital properties Flixster and Rotten Tomatoes.

Before that, he held the same position at the Huffington Post.

Besides Smith, Verve announced the expansion of its national sales team through through the hires of Neil Shapiro, as vice president, East region, based in New York; Jennifer Fine, executive director, Southwest, in Los Angeles; and Kara Jenkins, director, New England, in Boston. Shapiro joins from Shazam, where he managed the Eastern and Midwest regions, while Fine and Jenkins previously held similar posts at PayPal Media.

Verve also promoted Beau Davis to vice president, strategic accounts, a newly created position in which he will manage key advertiser accounts nationwide. He will also oversee the company’s Midwest sales team. The staffing additions follow Verve’s closing of a $14 million venture round in February led by Nokia Growth Partners.
