IAB Launches Publisher-In-Residence Program

Peter Naylor

The Interactive Advertising Bureau has tapped Peter Naylor to inaugurate its Publisher-In-Residence program. In the new consulting role, the veteran digital sales executive will serve as a resource for the IAB, providing insight on the ever-shifting online publishing landscape.

"Akin to Entrepreneur-in-Residence consulting roles at venture capital firms, we look to this new Publisher-in-Residence program as a way for IAB to get the inside track on what's next for the interactive marketplace,” said IAB head Randall Rothenberg, in a statement announcing the initiative.

Naylor, who served as IAB Chairman for the year ending February 13, was executive VP of NBCUniversal's digital sales operation until last month. Previously, he oversaw NBCU's entertainment and sports digital properties. He joined the media conglomerate in 2006 after it acquired his former company, iVillage.

The term of Naylor's residence is open-ended. For digital publishing executives in transition who are applying for the new program the IAB set out a couple of baseline requirements: They must have served no less than a year in a major capacity on the IAB board, such as on its executive committee, and had a former title of SVP, EVP, or above.

    Not so good for publishers.

Don't like the requirement that you must have served on the IAB board. This is a bit self serving and insular. If you are going to help, help the whole community.
