In order to enlarge its content, video search engine blinkx has expanded its partnership with independent video producer REV New Media.
The tie-up translates to two new channels for
blinkx: The Fumble and The Savory, which will give users a range of up-to-date pro sports clips and pro cooking tips, respectively.
Video hubs are only as strong as their
partnerships, according to Dan Slivjanovski, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer at blinkx.
The tie-up translates to two new channels for blinkx: The Fumble and The Savory, which will
give users a range of up-to-date pro sports clips and pro cooking tips, respectively. “So far, we've teamed up with more than 1,000 content providers,” Slivjanovski said on Wednesday.
Exclusivity doesn’t hurt, either, Slivjanovski added. “blinkx is always looking to partner with producers of original content that our viewers may not be able to find
anywhere else.”
Blinkx will rely on its AdHoc ad platform to place contextually relevant spots against REV’s content. Slivjanovski declined to discuss financial details of
the partnership, but assured that blinkx would share the resulting revenue with REV.
To better respond to users’ searches, blinkx says it draws from an index of more than 35
million hours of online video and partnerships with more than 800 content publishers.
Late last year, blinkx reported $2.7 million of net profit on revenues of $82 million for the six
months ending Sept.30, 2012. During the period, revenue increased by 84%, the company reported.
