TiVo's Second-Screen Service Sees Strong Results
Some 78% of TiVo's streaming-capable TiVo subscribers use the service each month, with time-shifted content accounting for 76% of all streaming sessions.
Much of TiVo's recent higher usage numbers are the result of the launch of its TiVo Roamio service, which started up in August 2013. TiVo has had in-home streaming capability since September 2012.
TiVo says 80% TiVo streaming sessions were viewed on tablets, with 20% coming from smartphones.
An average streaming session is about the length of a 30-minute sitcom, with the average user streaming 15.6 sessions a month. Most streaming activity occurs on the weekend.
The most-streamed programs: NFL Football; college football; “Comedy Central's “Daily Show with Jon Stewart”; AMC’s “The Walking Dead”; ABC’s “Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”; and CBS' “Big Bang Theory.”
TiVo’s analysis is based on aggregated, anonymous, second-by-second audience measurement data from a sample of 24,918
anonymous households from July to November 2013.
