NBC Taps IDS For Real-Time Results During Sochi Olympic Games

NBC Olympics has tapped Information and Display Systems (IDS), a division of Sports Media Technology (SMT), for its production of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The two companies have worked together for 14 years.

NBC Olympics will use IDS to present real-time data -- including results and timing -- for its broadcast. The IDS team will deliver TV graphics interfaces for NBC in its coverage of "alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, snowboarding, figure skating, short track speed skating, speed skating, bobsled, luge, skeleton, ski jumping and the ski jumping portion of Nordic combined," per a release.

IDS says its technology will enhance the broadcast by being able to locate when leads change, where an athlete improves his or her performance, and other similar events.

IDS will have a team of nine on-site during the Olympics, which take place February 6-23.
