“Samsung is everywhere! Even taking over the signage of a local establishment a block from the Austin Convention Center,” SXSW Interactive correspondent and OMMA conference emcee Chuck Martin, said upon his arrival in Austin, TX, Thursday.
Martin, a veteran of numerous SXSW, CES and other consumer technology related events, said the over-the-top Samsung presence, “seems new to me.”
“I am seeing Samsung starting to have a major presence if not dominate all shows where it goes,” noted Martin, who also edits MediaPost’s mCommerce Daily. “This includes CES, Digital Signage Expo and now they are popping up here. Someone in there has a very large show marketing budget, it would seem.”
Martin reported there was also a heavy advertising presence by consultant Deloitte, which “dominated the lobby of the convention center.”One thing is clear, Martin must not have been using a Samsung phone to photograph the picture of Samsung’s signage in Austin, otherwise its autocorrect features would have cropped his thumb out of the photo.
