KBS Sets Up Shop In China

Earlier this year, KBS landed the TE Connectivity account and now, the agency is opening KBS China with this client as its anchor client. The Shanghai office will open in early 2015 with five or 10 employees, and will aim to have upwards of 20 by the end of 2015.

KBS has appointed Douglas Lin as partner and CEO and Jonathan Ip as partner and CCO of KBS China. Most recently, Lin was Managing Director of TBWA's Digital Arts Network China and prior to that led BBDO/Proximity China as managing director. Ip most recently served as digital executive creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi, Greater China.

The two executives will work alongside Lori Senecal, global executive chairman of KBS, to create an offering that incorporates regional specificities into the office culture and brings its global expertise to Chinese companies looking to expand internationally.

“Our approach to expanding KBS within key global markets has always been rooted in determining the best offering and strategy for the environment at hand. In building a global presence, we have identified world-class partners capable of winning and running global businesses from any location," says Senecal.
