Publicis Groupe's MediaVest Wins Brown-Forman Review

It’s been a good week for Publicis Groupe on the new business front. Publicis Worldwide was awarded the Cadillac AOR and Leo Burnett was selected to handle a number of Kraft Food brands. Now, Spirits marketer Brown-Forman has selected MediaVest as its new media shop, the company has confirmed.

Brown-Forman, which markets Jack Daniels whiskey, spent $52 million on ads in 2013, according to Kantar.

The shop was chosen from a field that was narrowed to four last month including MediaVest sibling agency Zenith Media, incumbent UM, part of IPG Mediabrands and WPP’s Maxus.

The four finalists were confirmed in November by search consultant Russel Wohlwerth, who assisted the client with the review process.

When the company confirmed the review in August, a rep said at the time that it was a matter of “due diligence,” given that it had been 10 years since the last formal media agency review.

Other Brown-Forman brands include Southern Comfort and Finlandia. The company reported fiscal 2014 net sales of more than $3.9 billion, up 4%.
