Dave and Busters Revamp Popular Mobile Games

Barbecue restaurant chain Dave and Buster’s has remade three of their most popular arcade games for mobile users. Dave and Buster’s brought on Kevin Bachus, one of the original creators of Microsoft’s Xbox, to lead the creation of mobile games for them.

“We wanted to enhance our in-store experience by providing a virtual experience,” said Bachus, who joined Dave and Buster’s in 2012. “[Guests] can download these new mobile games and win tickets to redeem for prizes on their next visit.”

The three games are based on Dave and Buster’s fan favorites: Big Bass Wheel, Tippin’ Blocks and Speed of Light. The games have all been optimized for mobile, and given new features. By spinning, balancing, tapping and swiping, players rack up points.

Players can then redeem points for tickets, and present them at any brick-and-mortar location in the US and Canada for real world prizes, like toys, videogames, tablets and consoles.

For Bachus, though, it wasn’t just about the prizes. "We didn't just put an arcade game on your phone; we made these games feel 'native' to mobile," he said. "These games are about more than winning tickets—these are really good, really fun, games you will want to play."

Big Bass Wheel and Tippin’ Blocks were developed by Robosoft Technologies, whose subsidiary, 99 games, is a successful third-party mobile game developer. Speed of Light was developed by Sarbakan, who has also made mobile games based on Disney and Dreamworks movies.

The games are available for both iOS and Android.
