AMC Revs Drop 10%, Subscriber Fees Up

AMC Networks -- home of “The Walking Dead” -- witnessed its advertising results tumble 10% during its latest quarterly reporting period.

Revenue fell to $189 million from $210 million in the third quarter of 2015. Advertising was estimated to be flat to down 5%.

“The Walking Dead” recently returned to high ratings for its fifth season -- with more than 20 million viewers tuning it for its premiere. Fourth-quarter advertising results are expected to show strong gains.

AMC witnessed a 23% decline in 18-49 Nielsen ratings for the third quarter in prime time across all its networks, according to Bernstein Research -- with a 14% drop among all viewers.

The cabler recently joined the new OTT service, to be launched next year -- DirecTV Now. It already has deals with Sling TV and Sony's PlayStation VUE.

AMC Networks continues to see steady subscriber fee improvement -- up 8% to $336 million. International revenue was flat at $114 million.

The company’s third-quarter net income dropped 10% to $65 million due to increase in restructuring expenses -- which came to $19 million. Revenue inched up 0.4% to $635 million.

The stock price was down 2% in mid-day Thursday trading to $48.44.
