Agencies Support International Women's Day (Part II)

As reported Monday, agencies are lending their talents and support to companies and organizations on behalf of International Women's Day and Women's History Month. Here’s another sampling:

Laird + Partners is offering its services pro bono to the Tory Burch Foundation for the #EmbraceAmbition global campaign that aims to address the double standard that exists around ambition, which is often seen as a great attribute in men and as a negative one in women.

A cornerstone of the campaign is a video PSA featuring celebrities and business leaders including Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, Kerry Washington, Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and Melinda Gates that direct viewers to the EmbraceAmbition.org platform.

Visitors are encouraged to take a digital pledge to #EmbraceAmbition, challenge friends to take the pledge and share their ambition on social media using the hashtag. There will also be content and tools related to confidence-building and goal-setting as well as interviews with successful women about ambition.

In addition, #EmbraceAmbition bracelets and t-shirts will be available in Tory Burch and Tory Sport boutiques globally as well as online at toryburch.com and torysport.com. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the sale of these products in the U.S. will benefit the Tory Burch Foundation, which helps American women entrepreneurs.

Droga5 is teaming up with Bono's ONE organization to produce an integrated campaign asking the world to support the 130 million girls who are denied a proper education globally.

#GirlsCount features citizens and celebrities such as Malala Yousafzai, Sheryl Sandberg, Angelique Kidjo, Bono and David Oyelowo filming themselves counting a number between one and 130 million out loud and posting their messages across social media.

On Wednesday, thousands of ONE activists will participate in a global “walk-in” where they will hand-deliver a 330,000-signature open letter to their elected representatives calling for every girl to receive an education.

#GirlPowered is a Havas and Canadian Women’s Foundation partnership aimed at giving girls the opportunity to share messages of positivity and empowerment to help build confidence and self-esteem. Originally launched in October 2016 as part of International Day of the Girl, Pattison Outdoor Advertising is expanding the initiative by broadcasting these messages across its 80 digital outdoor network of screens in 20 Canadian markets until the end of March.

“At Havas we believe in building partnerships within our community of vendors beyond the traditional role of buyer and seller, but Pattison Outdoor’s commitment was beyond anything we could have imagined,” stated Cory Eisentraut, VP creative director, Havas Canada. “Our goal for this campaign was to have as many Canadian girls as possible see these messages of strength and hope, and that is exactly what Pattison and their generosity have helped provide.”

FTD and experiential agency OutCold are introducing the #ILookToHer guerrilla marketing campaign by driving around Chicago on Wednesday in a branded classic Volkswagen van to deliver flowers to unsuspecting women.

Some 4,000 bouquets will be distributed at seven locations, chosen due to high volume of natural foot traffic, as well as a wide variety of women heading to and from the Chicago Loop area.

And 1,000 bouquets will be delivered to five office locations, including Google Chicago, Leo Burnett, Weber Shandwick, Time Out Chicago and the Magnificent Mile Association that have been selected due to their strong female influence and pride in celebrating women.

Separately, the non-profit She Runs It honored four industry executives and their mentors during the group's Impact Awards luncheon at Gotham Hall in New York today. Founded in 1912 as Advertising Women of New York (AWNY), She Runs It counts more than 1,800 members across chapters in New York and Chicago.

“One of the most effective accelerants for women in business is the support of a mentor or sponsor who can counsel, encourage and endorse them,” says Lynn Branigan, president/CEO, She Runs It. “The four leaders we are honoring this year have been guided by people who are actively helping to reshape those statistics, and we are delighted to recognize the winners and their mentors for their positive impact and influence on our industry.”

This year's honorees and speakers are Starcom USA's Amanda Richman recognizing mentor Lisa Donohue, global brand president of Starcom Worldwide; Target's Kristi Argyilan recognizing mentor Nick Brien, CEO, iCrossing and president of Hearst Marketing Services; MRM//McCann's Kate MacNevin recognizing mentor Bill Kolb, global president, diversified agencies, McCann Worldgroup; and Shell Oil's Patty Lanning recognizing Kathleen Higley, sales manager, Shell Oil Company.
