The fourth Monday of the new season gave some new network shows a strong jump-start.

ABC kicked off the new Christina Applegate "Samantha Who?" to a hefty Nielsen live-program-plus-same-day 4.5 rating/10 share among 18-49 viewers, grabbing a strong 93% of its "Dancing with the Stars" lead-in viewers.

NBC witnessed its rookie show "Chuck" growing a sizable 19% to a 3.3 rating/9 share. The show, which had been drifting lower since its season premiere, seemingly took some ratings out of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" and CBS' "How I Met Your Mother."

Other newbies: The CW's "Aliens in America" perked up to a 0.9 rating/2 share from a 0.8/2 the week before. CBS' "Big Bang Theory" lost 8%, dropping to a 3.1/8.

Fox's Major League Baseball playoff game between the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Indians earned a 3.0/8--about the same as Fox's "Prison Break," which ran in the time period a week before and reached a 3.1/8. Some mainstay Monday shows gained some viewers: CBS' "Two and a Half Men" rose to a 4.7/11 from a 4.4/10 the week before; NBC's "Heroes" moved up to a 5.2/12 from a 5.1/12; and CBS' "CSI: Miami" improved to a 4.8/12 from a 4.5/11. ABC's "The Bachelor" rose to a 3.4/9 from a 3.2/8.

Going south was ABC's "Dancing with the Stars"--falling 6%, its lowest number so far this season, to a 4.7/12. NBC's new drama "Journeyman" slipped 7% to 2.7/7 from its 2.9/7 numbers of a week ago.

Overall, ABC came out on top with a 4.1/10 for the night. CBS was a close second with a 4.0/10. NBC was next with a 3.6/9; Fox had a 2.5/6; the CW registered 1.1/3, and MyNetworkTV was last with 0.3/1.
