Who Are the Power Players?

Media researcher Jack Myers recently released his sixth annual "power rankings," of online sales organizations of 129 Web sites based on five attributes, including responsiveness of sales reps and whether organizations deliver on promises. Some 210 marketing and advertising executives were surveyed.

Among the findings:

> In the television and video category, Brightcove ranked highest, followed by TV.com and Weather.com. Advertisers' usage of TV and video sites increased dramatically over 2006. Only 27 percent of respondents claimed to use CBS.com for their media buys last year, for example, compared to 58 percent in 2007.
 
>SI.com came in first in the news and sports category, followed by WashingtonPost/Newsweek Interactive.
 
>In business and tech, CNET was the top-rated site, followed closely by WSJ.com and MarketWatch. Yahoo Finance came in fourth.
